PUPIL PREMIUM

All schools nationally now receive the ‘pupil premium’.  At Shelley First School we use this money to ensure that we have highly qualified and talented educational support assistants in every class to support learning and manage varied intervention/extension programmes to ensure all pupils make good progress.

We are required to explain the impact of the way we use this money.  At Shelley First School the impact can be seen most in the outstanding progress pupils make overall and in the outstanding standards that they achieve.  The pupil premium each school receives is based on the number of pupils in receipt of ‘free school meals’ and the number of pupils in local authority care.  We therefore need to explain what effect the pupil premium has on these pupils.  At Shelley First School, as a result of the extra support we have in each classroom, these pupils make at least good progress, and very often outstanding progress.  1:1 support and use of in classroom technology has enhanced learning, developed skills and in many cases accelerated progress.

Pupil Premium Strategy and Expenditure is monitored and reviewed throughout the year and reported at Governors Meetings.  The Planned Strategy and related expenditure for each year will be reviewed in July and the review of the planned expenditure will be published at the start of the following academic year.
